The EMD SD9043MAC is a diesel-electric locomotive manufactured by Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) for use in freight service. It was created to comply with stricter emissions standards introduced in the United States in 2005. The locomotive is equipped with a 16-cylinder, 4300 horsepower engine and is capable of achieving speeds of up to 70 mph. It weighs 426,000 lbs. and has a Tractive Effort of 137,500 lbs.
